Dear Parent / Carer
I hope this update finds you and your family well.
You may recall I wrote to you on the 1st May 2020 to let you know about the future plans for Broomhill Bank School, including the increase in the designated number of student places from 210 to 318. The second phase of the public consultation commences today, and I enclose for your information a Public Notice. The attached notice is an extract from the complete proposal, the closing date for sending written responses either supporting, objecting or commenting on the proposals is midnight on the 31st July 2020.
As stated in my letter of the 1st May, please be assured that together with the Governing Body and the wider Senior Leadership Team I have considered the school ethos, dynamics and characteristics when drawing the proposal together. Careful consideration has also been given to the increase in provision, so that we do not overburden the site capacity or detrimentally impact our current Broomhill Bank students educational experience. On the contrary, the addition of new Sports Hall facilities, enhanced Forest School opportunities and renovations to student recreation space, will in fact positively enhance the experience for all our children and young people at both sites of Broomhill Bank School.
Early next week I will write to you setting out the time line of events as we move towards the end of the summer term, I will also confirm arrangements for student reports and share with you information relating to the summer scheme for Free School Meal vouchers. Additionally, I will share with you my broad plan for September how we will adopt a phased and staggered approach to students returning. This will be in keeping with announcements made by Gavin Williamson this week and will be flexible to adapt to any changes that may occur to the current social-distancing recommendations at that time.
