Dear Parent / Carer
I write following the announcement by the Government in relation to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Government have announced measures today with the intention to delay the spread of the virus; advice provided by the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientist to the Prime Minister is not to direct schools to close at this point.
This process will be reviewed following the analysis of the increase in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the UK. We fully expect that we will be requested to close at some point in the future, please be assured that we are planning for all eventualities with regard to providing ongoing education when this is the case.
If we are requested to close, students will be able to access schoolwork via their Surface Go tablet and via the School Website, each department is collating a schoolwork pack and links to the resources will be on the Website very soon, further details will be provided when appropriate.
We expect to receive further guidance in regard to students sitting examinations this summer, we will share this information with you as soon as we receive it.
We are following the Government guidance in relation to school trips abroad and if your child was due to attend the Berlin trip at the end of March please note that we will write to you tomorrow individually in relation to the cancellation of this trip.
In line with the guidance issued today should your son or daughter exhibit a continuous cough or temperature above +37.8° they should self-isolate for 7 days and you should inform the school. Should you feel at any stage it is unsafe for your child to attend school because they are at increased risk should they develop Coronavirus symptoms please contact the school to discuss your son or daughter’s attendance. Please be assured I will not identify any absences as unauthorised for those parents who choose to self-isolate their child.
As previously advised the School Website will be updated at 7.00 pm each evening and 7.00 am each morning with any essential updates, please check the Website and Parentmail for information.
Please be assured we are following all appropriate guidance and can re-assure you that we have no current identified risks to students at this present time. Thank you for your support and co-operation during these unprecedented circumstances.
