Dear Parent / Carer
I hope this update finds you and your families well.
As referenced in last week’s update we have been preparing to increase capacity for students and staff attendance on both sites. A Covid-19 School Protocols policy is published on our website and attached for your awareness. The measures we have adopted will be reviewed weekly in-line with guidance received from the Department for Education, Teaching Unions, Central and Local Government.
We will continue for the remainder of this academic year with our individualised risk assessed approach to increasing the numbers of students attending each site. We will continue with our weekly review of each student and their families need, whilst maintaining our awareness of the infection rate (R number) in the South East of England.
On Monday of this week the cameras were enabled on the students Surface Go devices and we have started the virtual tutor group lessons. The virtual lessons will increase as we progress through this term and we will balance these with resource-based sessions to ensure we do not overwhelm the students. Attached to this update you will find further information regarding how students and staff are accessing Microsoft Teams and contact details for the IT help desk.
Next week I will be working with staff to identify how we will provide opportunities to celebrate and recognise our students success this year and how we will report their progress to you before the end of term. I will also be letting the student know that we have not abandoned our plans to provide them with subject awards and this year’s leavers with a celebration event.
We continue to contact students on a one to one basis each week, this contact provides a vital link between home and school. If you do have any concerns regarding your child, please raise these with the form tutor during you weekly home-school contact and if necessary, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will get back to you.
