Dear Parent / Carer
I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and well.
As referenced in my update last week the camera function of the students ‘Surface Go’ devices (Laptop/Tablets) will be switched on this Sunday and will be accessible from Monday 8th June 2020. This is to allow our ongoing commitment to improve our remote learning and provide real time feedback and along with guided student to student interactions. All our students will receive an email explaining how they should access Microsoft Teams and guidance to help them keep safe whilst they are on-line. We will send you a copy of this guidance and a help desk contact address, so that should you have any concerns as we ‘go live’ these can be addressed. As the term progresses the number of interactive lessons will increase, and we will keep you informed of the lessons available and also seek your feedback regarding the impact of new interactive approaches and virtual tutor times.
The one to one telephone / email contact between tutor and students will continue weekly; we know from student and parent feedback this is a vital contact point between home and school. The form tutors will continue to discuss the educational and welfare provision for your child during these weekly keep in touch points.
We are currently making changes to school facilities, classroom layouts and corridor signs etc… and designing our plans to safely enable us to increase our capacity for student and staff attendance on both sites. In doing so we have followed guidance from the DfE, Teaching Unions, Central and Local Government, designed to keep students and staff as safe as possible whilst they are at school.
I will send a copy of our new school approaches and procedures in response to the continuing Coronavirus pandemic to you next Friday, this document will inform you of the measures we have implemented to mitigate risk of infection as we consider increasing the numbers of students attending each site.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Broomhill Bank School throughout this year, if you do have any concerns that are not addressed during your weekly contact, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Mr Steven Ackerley- Executive Headteacher
