Equality Scheme update

At the end of the third year of the existing Equality Scheme all actions have been successfully implemented. The school plan working party are now in the process of compiling a draft list of actions for the forthcoming three years. With a new cohort which only includes one pupil from an ethnic minority and no pupils from minority religious groups it is arguably  more important than ever to foster an understanding and tolerance of different cultures, ethnic groups and minority faiths. Actions will reflect this need.

Actions for the new plan will include the  ongoing and continuous impact assessments of all policy, practice and procedure in relation to the equality strands  of disability, race, gender and religion/faith.  Consideration of impact in relation to sexual orientation will also be made. Impact in relation to age will be considered with respect to adult members of the school community.

The introduction of  annual overview of outcomes will also be included ). This will enable us to measure the relative success, participation and achievement of all vulnerable groups within the school. This in turn will inform other necessary actions to address areas of concern.

All members of the school community remain committed to promoting equality of opportunity and celebrating diversity.

The working party are currently compiling a full annual report detailing examples of good practice from each department within the whole school.
