Process for Admission
Referral
- Parents and carers of prospective pupils and students are encouraged
to visit informally through appointment with the Headteacher.
- All referrals, both County and Out County, are formalised by Kent
Education Department's advisory panels.
- All entrants will have a Statement of Special Education Need.
Interview
- Before the formal interview the Local Authority will need to ensure
that all necessary supporting information is available, clearly indicating
why mainstream options are not suitable.
- At interview, the parents/carers and the pupil/student are required
to give a commitment to work towards the aims of the school.
- Establishing a position of mutual help and cooperation is a key factor
in the school's admissions policy.
Admission
- The school will make a very careful assessment of its ability to
meet the needs of the pupil/student prior to admission.
- Occasionally there may be the need for a fixed term "assessment
placement" which will be agreed with
the Local Authority.
Appeal
- Parents have the right of appeal in situations where the Local Authority's
decision goes against their wishes.
