Welcome to Broomhill Bank School

Broomhill Bank is a very  " special "  school, one with a proud track record of  high achievement alongside an excellent reputation, both within the local community of Tunbridge Wells, in West Kent and in the South East of England .

Broomhill Bank School is Kent County Council’ s specialist provision, in 'West Kent,  for pupils aged between 5 and 19 years who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs with a diagnosis of :

Severe communication and interaction difficulties associated with a combination of autism and learning difficulty
or
A specific language impairment (specific speech and/or language disorder) as opposed to language delay.

It is a co-educational day school for pupils and on site at Broomhill Bank School we have provision for ages 11 - 19.  We support ages 5 to 10 through an outreach project  in mainstream primary schools.

Our most recent OfSTED "education" inspection took place in October 2006 when we were judged "A good school with many outstanding features" (13 aspects graded "Outstanding" and 13 as "Good").   We have received 3 further OfSTED "care" inspections since then, resulting in our school being judged "Outstanding" on all occasions.

Broomhill Bank Special School is a coeducational special school, specialising in the education of students with special needs.  These special needs are severe communication and interaction difficulties associated with a combination of autism and learning difficulty or a specific language impairment (specific speech and/or language disorder) as opposed to language delay.

We cater for girls and boys aged 5 - 19 years with special needs.  These special needs are severe communication and interaction difficulties associated with a combination of autism and learning difficulty or A specific language impairment (specific speech and/or language disorder) as opposed to language delay The primary ages with special needs, i.e. communication and interaction difficulties, including Speech and Language Impairment and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder are supported through our Inclusion Outreach Project.

Through a personalised curriculum, delivered by a highly qualified and experienced staff team, and integrated therapy provision, we teach students, with special needs, that is, severe communication and interaction difficulties associated with a combination of autism and learning difficulty or aA specific language impairment (specific speech and/or language disorder) as opposed to language delay, the skills and knowledge required to succeed in school, at home, and into adulthood. We aim to enable each student to become as independent as possible and to enjoy learning for life in a 21st Century world.

The school is situated in rural surroundings just outside Tunbridge Wells in Kent.  Pupils with special needs, i.e severe communication and interaction difficulties associated with a combination of autism and learning difficulty or aA specific language impairment (specific speech and/or language disorder) as opposed to language delay predominantly come from local towns and villages in Kent but other areas in South East England are also accommodated.
